Problems updating Win7 on T40 & R51

#1 Post by Smokestoomuch » Mon Feb 28, 2011 5:16 am

I've been running Win7 on a few FrankinPad R51's and a T40 with no ill effect for a good year. Suddenly, every machine no longer updates and I get the error: WINDOWS EXPLORER HAS STOPPED WORKING, as it is crashes the windows explorer. I looked this up on Google and none of the solutions work or make any sense. Someone suggested it was the fault of a program, so I took one machine and started stripping all the software off to no avail. I also tried removing the last 10 Win7 updates, also no worky. Has anyone got any ideas because I'm fresh out. :??:

...not sure if you have the SAME ISSUE i had few montha ago ,,,,,I got same issues (MS windows wont update)

MS Support told me to Delete some UPDATE LOG FILE ,,,,and retry!

I did , however than - all the UPDATES = kinda had to be redone! (which is a real painfull exercise)

SO I asked MS support for NEXT OPTION -
they came back > REINSTALL OS - and advised in US Versions of Win7 = IE= major component of code that is built into windows and ONLY EU versions dont have that!!! >

In short ! >rest of world gets to have cleaner ; easier and far more faster Windows 7 and msot ENGLISH SPEAKING WORLD!!!

Sorry to rave on ,, but in short! I would reisntall Windows (clean install) than update drivers from Lenovo websiteCheers
