X31 not recognising SSD

#1 Post by toft » Thu Mar 03, 2011 5:28 am

Hi all,

I have just bought a transcend SSD (http://www.memoryc.co.uk/products/descr ... index.html), but simply can not get it to work. I have tried all 3 (4) options for the master, slave and cable jumper settings. But regardless, the drive is simply not recognised. I have Bios 3.02 and Embedded Controller Program 1.08.

I believe it is not recognised because I can not see it in Bios (under boot devices nothing comes up).

I can see many others have gotten it to work, so I hope somebody can help.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe you have to put it in upside down?
Compare the SSD pin positions with those of your old HD.
Have you tried it in another laptop or PC with 2.5"/3.5" adapter?

Thanks RealBlackStuff,

It is not upside down; it was in the beginning, but when it didn't work I had a closer look, but it did not help.
I have tried in another x31 with an older bios also tested with the SSD the right side up. Same problem.

It takes forever to get into the bios (when pressing F1) or to try to boot.

You must have gotten a faulty one. RMA for replacement or refund.
