Rescue and Recovery hanging...

I have T60P and have successfully used RnR 3.10.0022 but this week it just hands and does nothing (i back up to a 700 GB usb external drive) and while i have successfully done incremental backups (i have 6 on the drive) it now hangs. I uninstalled RnR, downloaded and reinstalled RnR 3.10.0033 (migr-67037) but no difference. still hanging. <<XP Service Pk 3. Helppp. i dont want to lose the 6 backups but if i have to, i will just to get the RnR working.

Is it possible your external disk is full? R&R sometimes doesn't handle that well. Are you connected to a network? If it is a large network, it may be looking for network shares. Try disconnecting.

I am not connected to a network when i am trying to do backup. Also i have a 700 GB external USB western digital with 300 GB free. My T60p's HD is 150 GB. i think that is enough room but i dont know.

Could it be that R&R wants to backup onto your (hidden) restore partition on the internal disk, instead of going to the 700GB external one?
That's where R&R normally stores backups. And that partition is rather small.

I thank everyone for their input. I updated to R&R4 and that cured the problem. Since PC was working fine anyway, no harm done to start over and so far it has worked without a hitch. Thanks to all
