#1 Post by brucehe » Sun Mar 06, 2011 1:36 am

Hello,

I want to remove the plastic flapper door on the pcmicia card slot and put it on another bottom case without breaking it. Are there some tricks for removal?

thanks,

Just kind of bend it slightly into a bow shape until the pin on one end comes free of it's socket. Then the pin on the other end will easily come out of it's socket. Not difficult at all. There will be a spring on one of the pins that you will want to be careful not to loose, so you can re-use it when you replace the slot door.

Oh, and the whole operation is much simpler if you remove the keyboard and palm rest before you try to get at the PCMCIA door.

When doing that, first push the flap in/down, so it is parallel with the bottom of the laptop.
Then put e.g. a small screwdriver under the middle of the flap and lift the screwdriver up until you can catch the flap with your fingers.
If you try it with the flap standing up, you will almost certainly break off one of the tiny hinge-pins.

Got it removed and installed without breaking it. Thanks for the info otherwise there was a good chance it would have been in pieces. Thanks again for the support.
