701C for sale or possible swap.

#1 Post by hwattys » Sun Mar 06, 2011 4:34 pm

I have a 701C which I would be willing to part with. DX4/75, 720 gig. 24 megs, loaded with Win95 and Office 97 and has a pc card 10/100 NIC with dongle. The CMOS is good (keeps time), and I have an original wall-mount AC adapter for it but no battery or any other peripherals. Condition is about a 7.5...some scratches and wear but the keyboard operates smoothly, but the space bar and tab key have to be hit just right to work (very common on 701s). I would frankly be more interested in a swap for some other vintage Thinkpad than cash. Also have a 730T complete except for dock and batteries. I can post pictures if anyone is interested.

$125 shipped to the lower 48? As I said though, these things are almost like holy relics that ought to be traded among true Thinkpad people and I would rather exchange than take cash...would love to find an Mwave 755cx with the svga screen for example, or a 360P or 755P, or even a nice 760

I now have 6 Thinkpad 701 units: 5 701Cs and a 701Cs. I have one of the 701Cs up on eBay at $119 BIN including all the accessories.

I will be selling the others gradually as I get them up and working fully. Willing to provide free shipping to thinkpad.com forum members as long as you send me a message first (U.S. lower 48 only).

Yes I might be interested please give me the details. I have a 760XD but for some reason cannot get the IDE controller configured right under W95 or 98....tried the IBM registry fix and no good but the drive works from DOS so I am stumped.

OK if you want a 701C here's your chance. It did not sell for $70. I listed it again starting at .99. This is a complete unit just a little rough cosmetically but works fine. I also have 5 more of these if anyone is interested although a limited number of peripherals other than AC adapters, of which I have plenty.
