R 51 1830-wcn suported by dock

#1 Post by thetimerider » Mon Mar 07, 2011 12:03 pm

I was looking at a 287810u tp mini dock to buy, says it supported R51. When i looked it up on IBM Lenovo it says it supports the 1829, 1836 but no mention of the 1830. Can any one verify weather or not it will work.

Thanks

If the 1829 fits, then the 1830 will also fit in that ThinkPad Mini Dock.
There is no limitation (such as you mention) in this document:

Note: that the mini dock requires a separate 120W AC adapter.
If you can work with the Port Replicator II instead (P/N 13R0292 or 74P6735), that uses the same 72W adapter as the laptop, and is also a bit smaller (and cheaper).

That's why I looked further, and found you that other document.
Believe me, it will work (but not for the R50e and R51e models).

There are plenty of those docks around the Market Place, don't buy outside the the forum. I have several in storage if no one else steps up and has one quickly.

I am actually looking at some ARTX 13R0290 docks as well that i would prefer. If anyone has one of those instead, i would be happy to buy it here. Although theres a brand new still in box sealed on ebay.

I have one of those also with a key, and I can put my hands on it! The cord may be an issue. Its a pretty common cord but I swiped the last one for a 16 volt power supply I just delivered with an X30. Send me a PM if you are interested in either of the 2 units. Given a day, I can find the first one you asked about.

Here is what the cord looks like

Thanks for that advice, I did end up buying from within the forum, and will always ask here first in the future.
