Hitachi hard drives compatible with ThinkPad R30?

Are the hard drives from the Hitachi Travelstar 80GN series compatible with the ThinkPad R30? Technical specifications for the Travelstar can be found at this page:

I need a replacement for the original IBM Travelstar drive and found that an IBM costs twice as much as a Hitachi drive with the same capacity. However, I have been unable to find documentation on whether a Hitachi drive is compatible with my computer.

Could someone please explain whether a Hitachi or other drive would work in my ThinkPad?

All IBM HDs are now made by Hitachi, so there's no problem using one in your R30.
