T43 type 2668-VW5, anyone heard of it?

#1 Post by Raceboy » Mon Mar 14, 2011 1:59 pm

I got a nice SXGA+ Flexview T43 for real cheap because it was not powering on. It was an easy fix: blown F2 fuse. When replaced, all works perfectly and ths T43 is barely used: no shine on keyboard, no scratches on the top of screen, perfect LCD.

I wanted to get some information about this since it is 2668-CTO (but BIOS shows 2668-VW5, manufacture date shows 05/2006, 2668-VW5 is written on the bottom also under the 2668-CTO), but IBM/Lenovo site did not come up with anything. Says it cannot detect my system because "2668-VW5 was not found".

Anybody have any clue what kind of mystery is that?

Most likely a "one-off" small corporate order of some kind.

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... yle=lenovo

Product: ThinkPad T43 2668-WV5 [change]
Operating system: All [change]

Original description: Based on 2668-CTO: P M 750(1.86GHz), 1.5GB RAM, 80GB HD, 15in 1024x768 LCD, 64MB ATI Radeon X300, CDRW/DVDR, Intel 802.11bg wireless(MPCI), Modem(CDC), 1Gb Ethernet(LOM), UltraNav, Secure Chip, Fingerprint Reader, 9c Li-Ion batt, WinXP Pro

If all other features are the same except for the LCD, it could have been swapped and the letters transposed in the BIOS config.

It had PM 740, 1 GB RAM, 2915ABG wifi and 6cell Panasonic battery.

It is made in China though.

richk: it is not 2668-WV5, but 2668-VW5
