Multitouch for T42
Multitouch is a feature of modern laptops/netbooks, right? Right. Or so I thought.
Recently I installed the original+latest Synaptics driver onto my T42 Thinkpad 2373-CW9 - from source http://www.synaptics.com/support/drivers
Installation went smooth and after reboot I played around with the Touchpad configuration. To my surprise the was a config-section for Multitouch.
And what can I tell you: it works. E.g. the scroll-down with two fingers. Not completely smooth, sometimes it seems stuck a little, but the functionality is definetly there.
strange, no?
cheers,
fk

Multitouch for T42
theres 2 finger scroll utility in the utility section. that one works better in my opinion.
Re: Multitouch for T42
T43p + Ubuntu Linux provides perfectly smooth two-finger scrolling without any problems immediately after installation. As on MacBook

Re: Multitouch for T42
thx for the warm welcome.
I'll check out the links provided; had'nt realized so far that this is a known phenomenon...
One problem I discovered with the Synaptics driver: middle-mouseclick on a link in Firefox opens the respective website in the background three times instead of once. Even with a flatrate that's kind of sub-optimal.

Re: Multitouch for T42
Doesn't seem that odd to me.
Synaptics touchpads have supported two-finger scrolling for many, many years. Apple marketed this as though it were an improvement unique to their laptops (and indeed, selectively enabled it on certain models of iBook to drive upgrades), but they had nothing to do with it; it was and has been a feature of Synaptics touchpads for a long time now. Linux drivers expose this feature on supported hardware, so it doesn't surprise me Synaptics's drivers do as well.

Today was released new UltraNav driver:

They're claiming:
Edit: I can confirm, that multitouch two-finger scrolling works perfect on T43p with the latest UltraNav driver.

I haven't tried it yet, because I am on my business laptop now...Multi-touch gestures are supported only with the multi-touch touch pad.
