Last ThinkPad T model with IBM logo

#1 Post by ThinkpadAddict » Wed Mar 16, 2011 8:43 pm

What was the last model to display the 3 color IBM ThinkPad logo. Was it the T61? Also, what was the last T6X model. Was it the T61?

Thanks for your help!

'Some' T61's could be purchased with the iBM logo on them and were the last models to have them. The last T6X model was the T61.

IIRC, corperate users got the new thinkpad logo with the T6(1?), and individuals got the IBM Logo. This would also explain why almost all of the refurb T61s I have seen have the thinkpad logo.

There is a section in one of the lenovo blogs that explains why it is.

That must have been generally true, but there were exceptions. Some of the corporate T61s my company purchased had IBM logo. The majority had Thinkpad logos, as did my corporate T60, purchased almost 6 months earlier. My private T60 has an IBM logo.

The logo stickers on the T4x/T6x are the same shape/size and are complete interchangeable. Later T-series models came with different-shaped logos, which are not compatible with the 3-color IBM logos.

Same thing true about X series, but X series are not interchangeable with the T (they are smaller).

BTW, I've owned several T42/p and T43/p units with "new" ThinkPad logos...some of them were sold on this very forum...no trace of anything IBM-related apart from bootup screen anywhere...and they were not any better or worse than any of the comparable IBM-branded machines I went through...

My long-since-sold-IBM-branded-but-Lenovo-built T61p was a piece of junk in most respects...
