I have a T60 (Type 2007-DD1) that all of a sudden refuses to power on. If I plug in the power adapter, the green power light comes on. When pressing the power button, the battery and power lights flicker once, then turn off, and nothing happens. No fan starts, no beep codes, no nothing. The lights stay off, but unplugging the power adapter and plugging it back in illuminates the power light again. I've tried removing the battery, DVD drive, HD, RAM, and Wifi card, with the same result.
I'm afraid that the motherboard is shot, but am hoping someone might have a recommendation for a possibility to salvage it. I came across some tip of pressing the power button 10 times and holding it for 30 seconds on the 11th time - not sure if this is even a true reset or not. I've tried it without success (but I don't really know if this should be done with/without the battery/power plugged in). Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Re: T60 (2007-DD1) Will Not Power On
Reset is done with battery removed and AC adapter unplugged. In addition to all the things you removed, take out all the memory and see if you get beep codes indicating no memory. If not and if the unpowered reset does not work it is likely a bad system board.

Re: T60 (2007-DD1) Will Not Power On
I may have the same problem, I can start it if I do not have the power cord attached. If I try with the power cord attached I have the same issue and have to remove the cord and battery, replace the batt and hit start and it will boot up fine. Really weird and no solution thus far, failing batt is a possibility, but I've got 2 and both do it, so I'm leaning toward something hardware.

Hmm that's an interesting parallel issue, but mine happens with both the power cord plugged in AND just running on battery. I'm really afraid it's the power supply inside the laptop (soldered to the motherboard)....jatkbay wrote:I may have the same problem, I can start it if I do not have the power cord attached.
