KeyBoard Bezel Not working!

#1 Post by Mayas » Fri Mar 18, 2011 5:05 am

Hey guys!
I had to open up my w510 for some maintenance taking out the keyboard and the keyboard bezel. After putting it back together everything is working except for the items on keyboard bezel touchpad/fingerprint reader & the color sensor and the mouse trackpoint and the mouse buttons on the keyboard itself all the other keyboard buttons work perfectly. At first i thought it was just a connection issue i reconnected it too but nothing works.

If it was just the keyboard bezel yeah connection or something which it still can be but i don't understand why the keyboard itself is working fine except for the mouse functions on it.

Any help would be great!

The connector for the leads that come form the bezel has a kind of locking mechanism, are you aware of that?
If the connector is not locked down or have not been opened before you reconnect it, you'll get the problem you describe.

Am aware of it Adda and yes it is locked down... but that still wouldn't explain y the mouse controls on the keyboard also don't work while everything else on the keyboard works fine.

You are right, that is odd, is there any dirt/dust caught in any of the connectors?

Could you have torn something by accident when taking it apart?
Maybe you could take it apart again and check everything closely, this is a mystery :S

Call Lenovo for maintenance. The Palm Rest and the keyboard are CRU (customer replaceable) and they will ship you a new one to replace yourself.
