CSRSRV.dll not found

#1 Post by lutami » Tue Mar 22, 2011 2:09 pm

Have an R32 that hasn't been used for a while...I've just reformatted using the original restore partition... to factory settings...all updates including SP3 done.

Been working well and fast then today I get the start up screen then it goes blank.

Message I get is 'Unable to locate component. CSRSRV.dll not found'

Restarted machine a few times and it now boots...all seems ok.

Googled and found file only I don't know how to install it...I'm asked what programme I want to use and I've no idea what to do next...I'm assuming as soon as I shut down the machine I'll get the same problem...then without being able to boot to desktop It's just a dead machine.

Can anyone give me any help on this please...Thanks.

I checked that out...couldn't see any info on how to install though so left things as they are.

Problem seems to have resolved itself because it hasn't happened since.

Have used the 'Toolbox' and everything passes tests so maybe just a 'glitch'

The machine is an R32/2658/MG2...it has the original recovery programme partition to restore to factory settings (rare it seems for this age of machine) that was used...the only upgrade was to 768 Ram a few years ago...even the battery still holds a 1hr charge.

It's extremely fast on the net using a wireless card in fact a good little machine apart from only one problem now it takes forever to boot.

I have used msconfig to just start up with wireless/Antivirus etc and also tried enabling all start up items but there doesn't seem to be any change in the time it takes to boot...up to 3mins !!!

Is there anything i can do to sort this out...was no problem before it was stored unused for a while and before using the restore partition.

All Windows updates including SP3/Antivirus/Malwarebytes etc up to date...scans show nothing wrong with machine so i'm completely stumped.

Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated...Thankyou.

Start it up in safe mode, that will let you know where it is hanging. 9 times out of 10, the only fix is a freash install, but that will give you an interest point anyway.
