SSD problem: Corsair Force F240 and W510

#1 Post by jimZon » Tue Mar 22, 2011 4:26 pm

We have two W510 4391-ER9's that we bought Corsair's disks for. Both laptops are having the same problems. You have to reboot them a couple of times for the laptop to find the disk. It says "no bootable device" when you power it on, after a few reboots it starts normally.

I have updated the firmware on the disk and all available updates for the W510. Since BOTH laptops are facing the same problem and I can read about similar problems with W510 and SSD's I am suspecting SSD/W510 compatibility issues?

Any ideas or suggestions?

OS:

W7 64-bit Ultimate (english)

It's more like a Corsair SSD W510 issue vs a generic SSD W510 issue. I have an Intel 120GB SSD running fine in my W510.

I had problem with the W510 detecting new drives during POST as well.
And strangely enough, going into the BIOS and restore settings to default, then reboot, seems to fix the issue for me.

It is strange. Same problem if you go from "sleep" to normal. The laptop hangs and then blue screens. Exactly the same on both computers. One runs on Ultimate and the other has Enterprise.

EDIT: after some further investigation it seems that it really is the Corsair disk that does the BSOD at least.
