New t43 (266874u)

#1 Post by nomoredells » Wed Mar 23, 2005 1:34 pm

Well, it's here and it is BEAUTIFUL! I am so excited!

Originally ship date was 4/19 recently changed to 4/12 and yet here it is, shipped out of Kowloon on Monday.

Someone somewhere was looking for the parts shipped with a 74u, so here is what mine has:

13N9988 39T0519 KEYBOARD 14" US ENGLISH NMB YES

92P1090 92P1091 BATTERY PANASONIC 6CELL YES

92P6757 92P6760 LCD PANEL 14.1SXGA+ SAMSUNG

I'm very happy so far. And I want to thank Bill (and everyone who contributes to these forums) for all the information on this site. I haven't asked many questions, but I've gotten MUCH advice from searching the forum and reading the wonderful FAQs.

I don't know where it came from. Something I read said that NMB=Thai. I'm not that overly concerned. Wherever it is from, I absolutely LOVE it. :D

I do have one problem. And that is my desktop monitors, which had seemed fine to me are now very blurry. This could be more expensive than I thought.

I got a 39T0519 also.
It is NBM and it says Made in Thailand.
It may have been substituted or may have replaced the 08K5044, not sure.
It does seem to be the same quality as the 08K5044.

Not at all.
In fact, it benchmarked a hair slower than the 40GB 5k80 in the 2378FVU I had.
I think the difference in the two series is supposed to be a lower power consumption, not sure.
Don't believe that Hitachi is quoting additional speed for it.
No way a 40GB 5400rpm is going to be close to as fast as a 7200rpm.

Last week, but due to being misinformed by an IBM rep, I did not get it equipped as desired. IBM paid to get it shipped back, and I paid to return my 2378FVU (which may or may not end up having been a mistake).

I am currently waiting on a T43 CTO model, scheduled to ship within 2 weeks, configured pretty much exactly as I wanted it to be. Another member here ordered the identical CTO as well.

Greetings everyone.

I don't mean to bring a thread back from the dead, but I believe this to be relevant to my question.

Today I received my 2378FVU and of course I'm [censored] happy with it. It seems that my keyboard is (13N9988) 39T0519 FRU. It is NMB. Some here mentioned this is made in Thailand and that it should be identical to/replaced the 08K5044. What seems strange to me is that there is no blue under the arrow keys and that when I enter the FRU # into IBM's search, I receive a page entitled "Keyboard service parts - ThinkPad T43/p" seen here: http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.ws ... helpful.

I got one, it seems identical to the 08K5044.
Seems like IBM switched to that part number, but it is made in Thailand, and as I said, appears to be the same keyboard.

Thanks Andrew. Next time I'll research a little more -- I was under the impression that the 08K5044 had blue underneath the arrow keys. Thanks for your reply.

The color may be different, but I have typed on both of them...no difference.
Don't worry, IBM will take care of the keyboard on your Thinkpad for the life of the warranty. If you have any issue at all, they will get you another one.
