X200T (7449-9EU) - no Pen Input under Win7 OS

#1 Post by AlexTT » Thu Mar 24, 2011 2:04 pm

I did purchased a X200T laptop (7449-9EU) few weeks ago on ebay with XP Tablet SP2 preinstalled.

Pen input worked flawlessly, until I decided to upgrade to SP3 and install latest drivers via Thinkvantage System Update. Immidiately after that pen input disappeared, despite all devices in Device Manager were looking OK. After trying to fix it for a day, I decided to upgrade HDD and install legitimate retail copy of Win7 Ultimate. Everything went OK, I installed both Service Pack 1 and latest drivers from Microsoft Update and later updated necessary Lenovo drivers via Thinkvantage System Update.

Result was a bit of shock - no pen input as well. I was almost sure that something was broken inside system, but decided to try Ubuntu. To my surprise all pen functionality started to work flawlessly under Ubuntu out of box! I went further and restored XP Tablet SP2 without updating anything - pen works OK as well.

Question to all community and especially tablet experts - what is recommended actions to get pen input working on X200T under Win7?
Also should I run Lenovo System Update before Microsoft Update?

Your input is appreciated

i have the exact same model. XP2 was sweet, then the windows 7 upgrade made the pen non functional. it took me a while but you have to go here:

i dont remember if it's bamboo pen or just bamboo for the driver. i had to play around with a lot of drivers until one worked.
