Internal temperatures

#1 Post by SaabScott » Fri Mar 25, 2011 7:53 am

I have both my T61p (6459-CTO) and an R61i (8932-9XU).

Both have new/clean Windows 7 installs on them, including TP Fan.
One thing I have noticed is that the idle temps are WAY different.

Running around 61C for the T61p and 45C for the R61i.
I realize they are different machines ...

I took the T61p apart, vacuumed out the MB and cooling fins/fans but I haven't done anything with the R61i.
After cleaning it, I noticed that the temps climb as they used to (peak around 90-91C) when running WoW (and others in the background), but the fan will bring the temps back down into the mid-70's, low 80's VERY quickly (much quicker than before the cleaning).

But, are my temps on the T61p high?

Your T61 probably has a faster and hotter CPU, and a MUCH hotter GPU compared to your R61i. 60C is a little on the hot side, but nothing strange.

Using better thermal paste on the heatsink (something like AC5) is likely to bring your temperatures down.
