Networking T60, need cable
I am networking a T60 to a desktop. The T60 has a 1 gb card, so I am using straight through cable. But how do I tell straight through from XO when buying? I am buying the cable on Ebay and the descriptions are only for Cat 5.

Re: Networking T60, need cable
a crossover should say on it, I have seen it on the connectors and the cable itself, ask the seller what they see. If it is not being sold as a crossover though, I doubt that it is, since they are rarer than straight.
If you are only connecting the T60 to the desktop, all you need is the straight. Or are you going to connect a diffrent system?

Re: Networking T60, need cable
Most newer network cards (including the one in T60) are able to autodetect the cable type and switch rx/tx lines. Any cat5 cable will work.
This is called Auto-MDIX.

Most CAT plugs are transparent. If you hold both ends (the same way) next to each other, and the cable colors from left to right are identical, then you have a straight cable.
If the colors are in a different sequence, you got XO (cross-over for the uninitiated).
