Hello! Just got T41 from my dad and it is in like brand new shape.
I'm wondering what is the hole on the left side of the T41? What I can put there?
Thank you. Great laptop this T41.

Re: T41 question
Welcome to the forums!
Here's the overview of a typical T41: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/...=MIGR-58183.
Under Expansion Bays is listed
The Ultrabay is on the right hand side where the CD is, and there are a number of different modules you can fit in it such as CD/DVD drives, second Hard Driver carrier, and battery.
You may also be interested in the very comprehensive Service Manual: http://download.lenovo.com/...39t6192_01.pdf.
And if you want to know the exact spec of your T41 start off at this page http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/..=MIGR-46258
Find your model number which is on the bottom of the case and will be something like 2373-1FB and put it into the box on the top right hand side of the page.
There's loads of information here and feel free to ask anything. In particular be aware of the problems these models can have with unsoldered graphics and Southbridge chips - read the sticky T42 shuts down when I move it: http://forum.thinkpads.com/=33952.
But most of all enjoy your Thinkpad - it's an excellent laptop!

Re: T41 question
Thank you a lot! Great first impression of this forum right now.
These links were very useful for me. My T41 has been working like a dream.
I have the version with 1,4GHz, 1GB, 40GB, Bluetooth, Wlan, 7500 32mb.
It can run well older games like Mafia and Max Payne, fantastic!
Only con is the battery. It can last about 40mins. I guess it's just little old.
About the GPU soldering, if the GPU is un-soldered then what would happen? I'm just curious.
I'm not experimenting anything bad though.
I wanted to check temperatures and I can only see two temperatures which one is called my 2373-2FG which is 36-40C on idle and was 60C on gaming max. The other is the HDD which is on under 40's too.

Check out the link to the Forum thread I gave you for symptoms. Also the link to UK and European GPU reflowing in my signature.
Not sure on the two temperatures, but someone will no doubt come back and tell you about them.
