Hate you 'Next' and 'Last' keys!

#1 Post by Lockheed » Thu Mar 31, 2011 10:28 am

Every time I lose +5 minutes worth of text as a result of hitting one of those two keys, strategically placed around arrow keys, I want to inflict very slow and painful death on the person responsible for placing them there. They are fantastic in Linux where you can set them to switch screens but in Windows.... AAAAAARRRHHHHHHHH!!!

How do I disable these @*^&...?

I hate to say it, but I love those buttons. I wish I had them on my desktop keyboard. I mostly use them for Web browsing, but I find them very @#&^ing helpful;-)

There is a tool called "Keyboard Customizer" that allows you to disable these keys. Here's a screenshot:

XP/2000 version:

Vista version:

I don't know if the Vista version works on Windows 7.

By the way, I think these keys are awesome. I use them all the time. Both on my ThinkPads as well as on my external USB ThinkPad keyboard.

I love these keys.

I also run linux.

So how can I configure them to switch workspaces in Ubuntu 10?

Your starting point should probably be:

There is no solution for Gnome there but you might be able to combine the information to get your results.

This program is awesome (I finally can type ££££ on American keyboard) but from what I can see it has nothing to do with the keys I am looking to disable.

On my T61 (in vista), on the third tab ("key sensitivity") there is a checkbox "enable browser keys" - that should do it.

I missed that. Thanks!
Is there equivalent of this software for linux, i.e.: for getting custom key combination for various asci signs, like £ on American keyboard?
