A/C adapter peeled off on the connector

My T61 A/C adapter started to peel off where the connector where you put it on the back of the laptop, it starts to make false contact, how can i fix this. I've never encountered issues with legacy IBM chargers, the area where it's exposed is the grey plastic that covers the black cable just before the cable connects to the connector, I will upload a pic soon.

I would think it would be difficult to repair the cord at the DC plug; molded plastic and rubber makes it hard to get to the internal electrical connections. You might have better luck replacing the entire cable as outlined in this thread:
