Reinstalling Vista on a Vista/Win7 dual installation

#1 Post by T7TrainingSystems » Sat Apr 02, 2011 5:31 am

I remember in an XP/Vista dual installation, you had to install Vista last and couldn't reinstall XP because XP would mess up some setup which handles the dual installation.

Is this also true for a Vista/Win7 dual installation? My Vista installation needs to be reinstalled, but I don't want to mess up the boot setup thingy (technical term) by overwriting the Win7 boot setup with the Vista boot setup - if that's a problem.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about? If so, can you help? is it safe to reinstall Vista or will it mess up my dual boot setup with Win7?

If you already have vista installed and want to create a new installation over it, download easybcd, and make a backup of your current bootloader configuration - then re-install vista, rerun easybcd and replace the new one with the old dual boot one, and the problem should be solved.

Good luck
