Replacing a T42 SXGA LCD, with a T40 XGA LCD

Hi,

Is possible to replace a broken T42 SXGA LCD, with a XGA LCD from a T40?

The T42 is running Radeon ATI 9600, and the T40 LCD is from a laptop running Radeon 7500.

Both screen sizes are 14.1

The LCD from the T40 is complete, and all I have to do is remove the 6 screws holding it.

This replacement will work out of the box.

You will need both the XGA panel and the XGA ribbon cable. It's the cable that tell the system what resolution the panel is.

Edit: If you are moving the entire lid from the T40 to the T42, there should not be any problems. Everything you will need is there.

I very much appreciate all your advice, and just purchased a T42 base on Ebay!

It has a Radeon 9600 video chip, and I'm assuming it's much better than the Radeon 7500 from my T40.

This T42 base will help with my various bunch of T40 parts.
