*Problem solved*

#1 Post by PuuFa » Fri Apr 08, 2011 7:06 am

So, I installed a SSD in my X41 Tablet and everything worked well except the infamous 2010 error. As a solution I downloaded the modified bios from here http://forums.mydigitallife.info/thread ... post344779 I burnt it on cd, used USB CD to boot and everything seemed ok until after "Flash programming complete" I got this error with beeps:
"Phoenix Phlash16 Error
Erase flash memory block failed
RESTART SYSTEM WITH CRISIS DISKETTE"
Tried to re-flash but it ended up the same. Everything else seems to work though except the digitizer and tablet buttons... I tried to flash the original X41T bios available from Lenovo but after a reboot when it should have started the flash process I got this message:
"The diskette in the default drive will not run on this system.
Your system is now locked. To restart your system, press Ctrl+Alt+Del."

So what can I do to fix this, can anyone help? :(

One thing which might have affected somehow was that a while ago I tried to upgrade the embedded controller from version 1.01 to 1.02 but what I didn't know back then was that the installation file was intended for Win XP and I was running Win 7 (yeah I was too lazy to read the instructions) so I got a message like this:
"EFlash Error
DeviceIoControl() returns 24
Please restart your operating system and
execute the BIOS or Embedded controller update again."
Nothing seemed to be changed though so I was thinking it didn't do anything. Also bios was still showing the same old version number of 1.01 for the embedded controller. However after I got this problem with the modded bios I did some research and found a diskette version of the updater from Lenovo. I boot it from USB floppy, but it ended up with the same message I got when I tried to Flash the original bios. Ouch... I will appreciate very VERY much if someone will show up with a working solution..

Contact www.aqstech.com, who advertises at the top of this page (BIOS recovery).
You could also try and use an external floppy and DOWNgrade the BIOS to a version earlier.
And NEVER EVER update a BIOS from within Windows!

I actually worked it out now...and the reason for my problem turned out to be quite embarrassing. I had accidentally downloaded non tablet version of the bios. :oops: Oops! Anyways everything works now as I flashed the correct version in place. So what we learned...if you are about to do something crucial when you should be sleeping then think again! :lol:
