Turning LCD on/off?

#1 Post by westsailor » Sat Apr 09, 2011 8:47 am

I keep trying to turn the LCD on my W500 off via Fn + F3.

Problem is, while it initially shuts off like it should it keeps coming back on after a few minutes. There is nothing going on that would normally 'wake up' the screen (including minimizing any active apps & turning off the wireless mouse).

any ideas why it keeps waking up?

Yep, Win XP SP3.

Interesting that it isn't a consistent, set period before it 'wakes up'. Sometimes within a couple/three minute. Other times it can be as much as 10-15 minutes.

Think it's O/S related?

Do you lock your screen before turning it off, or do you just turn it off? I had a similar issue, and I solved it by going to the welcome screen before hitting FnF3 - I don't know if this is applicable for you, but it works perfectly for me 8)

I'm going to venture a guess that it's some software - quite likely AV - checking out the surroundings...
