- 1GB GDDR5 Radeon(TM) HD 6490M Graphics [HDMI, VGA]
-Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 [HDMI, VGA]
-1GB GDDR5 Radeon(TM) HD 6770M Graphics [HDMI, VGA]
For a new laptop. I don't know what the differences are. Is there one that's really better or am I going to notice a difference?

Re: Graphics Cards
It really depends on what you are asking it to do.
What are you wanting to do with the laptop? Any of the 3 will do internet, video and spread sheets.

Besides what you said games.

You might like Tom's Hardware's Graphics Card Hierarchy Chart. The Intel that you mentioned is there, but neither Radeon. Maybe they will be in the April edition.

Re: Graphics Cards
I looked at the chart however I can't make much sense of it.
Re: Graphics Cards
The bit of info above the chart explains it. The cards at the top of the list are the best/fastest and the ones on the bottom are the worst/slowest. Ones grouped together have the same or similar performance.Me2 wrote:I looked at the chart however I can't make much sense of it.

Heat dissipation and power consumption are of course in the reversed order. There is GAMING and gaming. If you plan to GAME, then get the card with the best performance among the ones that are an option for you. What titles do you plan to play and at what settings (resolution, details etc.)?
IBM Lenovo Z61p | 15.4'' WUXGA | Intel Core 2 Duo T7400 2x 2.16GHz | 4 GB Kingston HyperX | Hitachi 7K500 500 GB + WD 1TB (USB) | ATI Mobility FireGL V5200 | ThinkPad Atheros a/b/g | Analog Devices AD1981HD | Win 7 x86 + ArchLinux 2009.08 x64 (number crunching)
Re: Graphics Cards
Fable, Fairway Solitaire, possibly The Sims, possibly Virtual Villagers. And browser based games. I know a lot possibly all of those don't fall into the GAMING category. As for settings I like to have full screen for the ones that aren't browser based. And the animation details close to the highest possible. My screen resolution is currently at 1360 x 768 and it's fine at that resolution.

Graphics Cards
I would say get the middle one. It provides the best balance of performance and power draw, and will run all of those titles on high. If you want to do newer games in the future that one will be more future proof. If you want the option to GAME in the future then get the best one.
