I looked into doing an LED upgrade, but the price is about $270 which is a bit much. For about $130 I can replace the CCFL screen. I currently have FRU 42T0597, which is the AOU Opteronics screen.
Which T61/T400 CCFL screen is best? The Samsung, AUO or the LG?
I am leaning towards the LG, FRU 42T0427. It is a display that shipped with the T61 wide. Will this work in a T400??

Well, I bought the LG T61 screen for my T400. I will post whether or not it works sometime next week when it arrives.

Well, the replacement screen worked.
My first impressions: The LG is brighter, but the AUO I removed seems to have had a lot better contrast. This screen looks more "washed out" overall.
As a side note- my T400 which did not ship with webcam has the cable with the connector to add one. I wish I had known!

CCFL's dim with age, so the new LG panel should be noticeably brighter.
I suppose you could just drill a hole in the bezel for the camera and add a clear piece of tape over it...
