Display port adapter?

I've searched the forums and don't see any info that might help.

I'm just wondering what kind of display port adapter I need for my W500 to drive a 1080P flat panel display.

Obviously I need a 'standard' (not mini) male DP to female HDMI adapter. I got that part...

However, when I look on eBay there are a thousand of them from $5 to $200 and all points in between. Even one for $918 (includes free shipping though

Am I missing something? With that broad a price range I'm thinking there might be substantial differences in the adapters?

Is there a particular adapter 'type' or one with a particular spec I'm wanting/needing (i.e. Active vs passive, 'built-in IC chipset', non-halogen... I swear that is in one description)?
