T43 Bios update
T43 Bios update
Hi all:
I am attempting to update my new mobo with newer bios and ECP but am a little bit confused by the ibm site. According to the site, I should upgrade the bios first. But it requires ECP version 1.06. When I tried to run the program, it doesn't like to upgrade and asked me to reboot. I read somewhere that I should upgrade the ECP first. If someone have experience in this, can you share your tricks? Thanks. My current versions are:
Bios: 1.22
ECP: 1.03
Thanks again,
Gary

Re: T43 Bios update
Always do BIOS first, then ECP.
Use an external USB floppy drive, or make a bootable CD from the .iso, rather than update within Windows.
There are 2 BIOS and 2 ECP versions available, one each for Intel graphics and one eachfor ATI graphics machines.
You probably tried the wrong type.
Newest BIOS is 1.29 for both
Newest ECP is 1.06 for ATI and 1.05 for Intel.

@op...
sage advice from RBS on doing the update from bootable floppy/cd rather than inside windows. i've been updating machines for years this way with nary a brick as a result.

Re: T43 Bios update
Just my two cents. I've always updated via inside windows with no problem for numerous years.
