I can't help you. I changed from the Intel B to the Intel B/G with no problems.

You would have to hack into CMOS to bypass system check for unauthorized hardware.
Search the forum, there was a long discussion about how to this.

If you don't want to hack the bios, you can buy the authorized b/g part from IBM for $59.
Homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon XP (Barton) @ 1.47 GHz; nForce2 Ultra; 1GB RAM; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM; ATI Radeon 9600; Integrated everything else!

well it's not really 'hacking' so much as changing a little bit of data in the cmos by running a program from a bootdisk. simple enough, but the IBM authorized part has an advantage because the wireless light will work like it's supposed to :)

So there are two way of doing this if you are getting 1802 error.

One is to hack the BIOS, which can be very dangerous unless you know perfectly what you are doing. It is a lot of steps requiring few programs to hack the BIOS and updating your BIOS. However, you make a mistake and you can mess it up and your systemboard is toast. IBM will not flush the BIOS, but rather charge for a new system board that will cost you an arm and a leg.

The other one is to hack the CMOS, which is much safer.

you have to get a hack program called no-1802.com that will automatically hack the CMOS and bypass the check. The site that posts this program seems to be down now. If you PM me with your e-mail address then I can send it you tonight.
