external monitor on X201t -> tablet-function usable?

#1 Post by Carlsson » Mon Apr 25, 2011 9:11 am

Hey Guys,

at the moment I'm considering the X201t as my next laptop, now I'm using a MacBook Pro. The most important advantage of the X201t would be the tablet function - I'm a student and would like to use the laptop at the university and for studying at home. For the latter purpose I want to connect the X201t to my Cinema Display and use the tablet-function simultaneously. My question is, whether this works or not. Is the X201t able to drive its monitor AND an external one, and is it possible to use it as a tablet in the docking station?

Thank you for helping me and sharing your experiences!

Regards,
Carl

Yes, that's possible, given you duplicate your desktop on the second screen. however, I don't really get the point of doing so?

Thanks for your response!
But no, I don't want to double it. I want 2 "independent" screens.

Example: Display some earlier writings and dokuments on the external monitor and making notes and calculations on the tablet.

I hope its clear now.

That should work just fine. Configure the screens as primary and secondary and have the note taking app on the tablet, everything else on the external.

Thanks guys.

I didn't ask whether the resolution of 2560x1440 will be supported, but I think that won't be a problem, right?
OK, then I will be one of the few that switch back to windows, I'm not happy with it but the tablet functionality will make the running.

Carl

2560x1440 would be supported via displayport in the ultrabase.

OK, and can I use the X201t as a tablet, when it's fixed in the ultrabase? I think so... alright. Thanks for the responses.

I just discovered the X220t, maybe this one will be a better choice. The displayport is built-in, but does anyone know, whether there exists an ultrabase for this model? Ok, this is OT now...

yes... the X220 and X220T use the UltraBase Series 3.
