DV captures on a 240X

#1 Post by catback » Tue Apr 26, 2011 8:13 am

Hi,

Has anyone attempted to perform DV captures from a camcorder to a 240X laptop using a PCMCIA firewire card? The laptop specs are P3 500 MHz, 192 MB RAM and 5400 rpm drive running XP. Thanks.

No, but seems within reason...

http://www.firewire-1394.com/pinnacle-s ... s-card.htm

Code: Select all

Pinnacle Studio MovieBox DV & PCMCIA FireWire Card System Requirements
    * Intel Pentium or AMD Athlon, 500MHZ
    * 128 MB RAM
    * Available PCMCIA CardBus slot
    * Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, XP
    * DirectX 8 or higher compatible sound card
    * DirectX 8 or higher graphic card
    * Mouse
    * CD-ROM drive (CD or DVD burner required to create VCD, SVCD or DVD)
    * 300 MB of disk space to install software
    * 210 MB of disk space for every minute of video captured
    * SCSI or Ultra DMA/33, ATA-66, ATA-100 or faster IDE hard drive
looks like you got the "minimum" required... so it should work.. but dont expect nice performance as the reccomended is TWICE the minimum...
