Partitioning tips/software

#1 Post by gcrames » Tue Apr 26, 2011 3:31 pm

I'm running a T60 with Windows XP pro and I was thinking of partitioning the hard drive.

I was thinking of doing an OS/data split, maybe looking at a dual boot set up down the line.

I'd be interested in any tips for how to avoid any problems with the recovery partition (which I assume is a primary partition) - software to use, best way to avoid problems with the recovery partition.

Any more general partitioning tips would be much appreciated - I've not partitioned a hard drive before.

I use gparted live. It's fairly intuitive, just shrink your C partition to whatever size you want and create a new one/s. It will not break the recovery partition, but if you ever use the R&R function to restore the drive, it will overwrite your new partition/s.
