Locking drive bay of x4Dock

#1 Post by keithsketchley » Tue Apr 26, 2011 6:41 pm

I figured it out. The screw that blocks the Ultrabay release tab goes into a hole in the top surface of the dock, located at the left side just aft of the white alignment arrow. When the dock is not locked the hole is covered by an internal plastic plate, so looks like a depression in the molding, locking the dock slides the plate out of the way. (Normally the computer covers the open hole when the dock is locked.)

The screw is a typical one for the x4 Dock and x4x computers, a size larger than most in the dock, the same screw as used in the x4 Ultrabase Ultrabay for that purpose (at front left.)

Is it in the User’s Guide? (Naw, what do you want from IBM – a comprehensive guide? It is an obscure feature that I discovered only because I had the dock apart to rekey the lock and was curious what a certain lever did.

A lesser omission is that the UG dock does not cover the x41 basic computer, it does cover the x40 which is probably the same fit, and the x41 Tablet.)
