Hi everyone. I have a handful of very nice T60s that I need to sell off.

(06-21-11) New batch - six laptops available!

I have five 2007-55U T60s ready to go. They all have identical specs, which can be upgraded/changed to your preference.

Every T60 in this batch has a brand new backlight, fan, and hard drive and can be configured with new batteries.

15" SXGA+ Flexview/IPS Display (very bright!)
1.83 GHz Core Duo
2.5GB DDR2 RAM
100GB/7200RPM HDD
DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive
64MB ATI Mobility Radeon X1300
OEM used 6-cell Battery - add $20 for new

Wouldn't an international buyer then be paying for international plus domestic shipping? It would make more sense to subtract the domestic, add the international.

Any idea if the panels are ID Tech or LG Phillips?

Is it Core Duo or Core 2 Duo?

Lastly, what make/model hard drive?

Those most likely have the LG LP150E05 panels.

They have Core Duos, not Core 2 Duos. I've edited the original post to reflect this.

The HDDs are Western Digital Scorpio Black WD800BEKT drives. I just noticed that these say "recertified" on the labels, so I guess they're not brand new. They were factory-sealed when I bought them and they have a manufactured date of Sept. 29th, 2010, so they should be under warranty until Sept. 29th, 2013. The WD website is down at the moment, so I can't check the actual warranty.

I'm not sure which LCD they have. I may be able to check when I work on a couple of the others I'm prepping.

Thanks. BTW, you should be able to check who makes the panel of each unit by looking the serial number up on the lenovo website. They have the parts list for the machine.

Thanks! I've entered the serial number of one of the laptops, and I get a part number of 42T0324 for the LCD. According to this thread, it sounds like this is an LG-Phillips LCD.

Hello,

A few questions/clarifications:

(a) Are you able to ship to London, UK. How much would this cost? How do you rate it for customs etc.?

(b) What is the difference between the T60 rated a 9.5 (with some play in the hinges) and the one rated 9 (with no description of any defects) - i.e. why is the one rated 9 rated lower?

(c) How much extra would it cost for you to do the following upgrades:

(i) Bump up the RAM to 3GB; and
(ii) Replace either the current hard disk or the DVD drive with an Intel or other equivalent 128 GB SSD drive?

(d) Lastly, how much does the machine weigh in real world terms (i.e. not wat Lenovo originally claimed it weighs, since you appear to have performed some excellent upgrades to the original specs).

About upgrading RAM in a T60, if you go to Crucial Memory Advisor results for the Lenovo ThinkPad T60 Series (Type 2007) Laptop/Notebook you will find relevant Crucial memory upgrade options.

A 1 GB module from Crucial (P/N CT12864AC667) is selling for $15.22 at Amazon; see --> Crucial 1GB 256Mx64PC2-5300 CT25664AC667 DDR2 200-Pin SODIMM laptop memory while a 2 GB module from Crucial (P/N CT25664AC66) is selling for $24.41 at Amazon; see --> Crucial 2GB 256Mx64PC2-5300 CT25664AC667 DDR2 200-Pin SODIMM laptop memory

As to upgrading the CD-RW/DVD-ROM to a CD/DVD-RW drive, see the thread WTB: "Ultrabay Slim Multi-Burner III" (DVD-RW) for a T60 listing relevant FRU’s for the fastest DVD-RW drives, being the following: 39T2829, 39T2828, 42T2506, 39T2851, 39T2570. Check eBay for best offers

Weight of 15" T60’s? Check the thread Thinkpad T60 15" measured (not advertised) weight.

I have dealt with James on a number of occations, and I can absolutely recommend doing business with him - as also clearly evident from the very fine feedback e.g. in the thread LCD CCFL Backlight Repair/GPU Rework - I'll fix it for you!.

My recommendation (although you haven't exactly asked for it): Get one of these MINT condition T60's with the outstanding 4:3 formal Flexview/IPS LCD, upgrade it to a SSD (e.g. an Intel X25-M), install Windows 7, and you'll fly! See the comment by member Marie-Anne about this in the thread Windows 7, 32-bit ATI X1400 driver. You will find a lot of useful information about this T60 in the thread Advice please - $700-$800 TP for college student. I have a couple of such X1300 T60's, and have set up several for family and friends - and all are very satisfied with them!

I want to add my recommendation for these James thinkpads. I just bought two of them for friends because I believe they are such an outstanding value. You can get a used T60 for less, but not with an effectively new flexview screen. And the drive he's installing is fresh and fast as well, so if you do wish to run it with a hard drive, this one should perform well and have a likely good lifespan.

I talked to James on the phone and he's been very helpful with my orders. If there's a way that he can make it work for you, he will. At the moment, he's quite busy with a local event, but he'll be back in a day or two and/or you can call him by going to his business link in his signature.

I hope that James is successful with this sub-endeaver and keeps selling his special version of rennovated Thinkpads for years to come! A great resource.

Waiting to see our new T60s in the mail....

What was the answer to this?
What can be done about the hinges? I'd be tempted to take the #5 over the #3 given I could eventually swap out a keyboard if it really bugged me. Seems harder to swap out hinges unless some other fix. I am sure this is all subjective and you are just looking overall, and it is probably insignificant since we are only talking $5 different.

I am about sick of trying to fix the fan on my T61, and I'd rather have a IPS screen!

I am totally interested in one of these.
