problem with external monitor

Hi,
Since i've installed windows 7, i can't use external monitors with my T60
When i plug the monitor, in the display dialog box, it is recognized as a second monitor but nothing happens on the screen (stay black)
all my drivers are updated, my vga cable is working
Do you have any idea of the problem ?

In BIOS set the primary display device to VGA. Power up and immediately close the Thinkpad lid, or else power up with it closed from a dock if you have one. Anything displayed on the external monitor?

are the backlight or any indicator LEDs on on the external monitor?
