Serial-ATA or Parallel for Travelstar 5K100
I would like to replace my 60GB Travelstar hard disk drive in my A30P with the Travelstart 5K100. There are two different models. Can anyone please explain which should I use and why? I've looked on the IBM site and I can't seem to find the spec on the existing A30P drive which explains which I should use. Below is the Hitachi link with the following specs:
Here are two different models:
Travelstar 5K100 models / Capacity (GB) / RPM / Interface
HTS541010G9AT00 / 100 / 5400 / Parallel-ATA
HTS541010G9SA00 / 100 / 5400 / Serial-ATA
Configuration / Parallel-ATA / Serial-ATA
Interface / ATA-6 / Serial ATA 1.5Gb/s
Thanks

Stavros is correct. The only 5K100 HD presently available is the Seagate.

The Hitachi 5K100 series HDs are available, but only up to 80GB to date, although the 100GB will be out shortly.

James

Most desktop PCs support Serial ATA (Intel has had a native SATA interface in their chipsets since the release of the 865/75 in 2003), and I know the 915PM/GM chipsets also have a native Serial ATA interface.
However, there seems to be a lack of SATA drives for notebooks on the market. I would say that SATA will start to become more common in notebooks by the end of this year.

Homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon XP (Barton) @ 1.47 GHz; nForce2 Ultra; 1GB RAM; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM; ATI Radeon 9600; Integrated everything else!
