X41t Disable internal ram?
X41t Disable internal ram?
Anyone know if this is at all possible? I've narrowed down my problems of random freezing to the internal ram, and I think 1gb external ram should be enough to do what I'm doing with winxp/linux.

You'd probably want another mobo, never seen any such setting/switch.

Sigh, thats what I thought. I've read some things about earlier models having this option and also some rumors of people putting 2gb+ ram cards in their machines that caused it to ignore the internal ram. No way to test though, thanks for the reply.

When using Linux, it appears you can configure the kernel to ignore some known bad memory locations:

Don't know of any way you can to the same with Windows...

Re: X41t Disable internal ram?
Thanks for the reply, that badram module sounds pretty awesome. I found that it's already included in the latest ubuntu, and that a commented line for it in /etc/defaults/grub which was great. So I just needed to run memtest (which also had a badram reporting mode) to find out where the bad areas were. Ran it for 24 hours and no errors. So now I'm really confused. I updated everything and used it regularly for the next 24 hours or so without a single crash. But now, just 10 minutes ago it gave me a NMI: parity check/memory parity error, but this was only as I lifted it off my lap. So now I'm thinking its not the ram, but the slot, or something causing it to lift off the board if given too much flex.
Thanks for all the help, and I hope someone finds this all useful for their problems.
