I just received 3 brand new X201 laptops from lenovodirect. Right out of the box, 2 would not boot due to a "Fan error." These are going back to lenovo for repair. The third boots fine, but the fan is constantly on and rather loud. My questions:
1. Has anyone seen these kinds of errors right out of the box? We paid more for lenovo because of their reputation for quality and durability. Our experience so far bodes poorly, I think.
2. Does the loud fan indicate a problem, or are these machines just plain noisy? I am worried that the 3rd machine may also have a defective fan, given the problems with the other 2 (all 3 have sequential serial numbers). I will compare the fan noise when I get the other 2 back, but I was hoping for some insight ahead of time.
Thanks.
