@ausmike: I like your sentiment for the old chap but what does S'Fi mean? I tried looking it up to no avail. :?

BTW, he took Aussie citizenship but he was born in England. I loved the tale that he was appointed demolition chief for Western Australia in the second world war and was told to blow up Freemantle if the Japanese invaded, and then to get on his bike to cycle 300 miles away. :o

No more heroes any more after people like him. Perhaps people prefer computer games these days. :roll:
