T61 with NVS 140M - will 1920x1080 work?

Hi guys,

I am still using my T61 (model 7765) with NVS 140M graphics. I have just ordered a new monitor - LG IPS236V-PN, which is a 23" with resolution of 1920x1080.
Now the question is - will the VGA port support this resolution?
And - if I buy the mini-docking station, will the DVI output work with 1920x1080?

According to http://www.nvidia.com/object/quadro_nvs ... specs.html , 1600x1200 is the maximum DVI resolution for NVS140M. Is it true? I think I read reports that some were running monitors with higher resolution on the DVI port?

Also, there is a USB-DVI adapter made by Lenovo: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... 72682.html
Is this better than the VGA port?

The max resolution output over VGA is 2048x1536 according to lenovo. Yes, the advanced mini dock supports 1920x1080 over DVI, max 2560x1600.

I would get the dock and connect to the monitor with DVI, you will get a much better (crisper and clearer) picture. I don't know about USB to DVI adapters, but I think a dock would be better in the long run. Just be sure to get the Advanced Mini-Dock and not the Essential Port Replicator, as that one does not have DVI.

Will work fine.

I'm currently running a Dell 24" 1920x1200 over DVI and a Dell 24" 1920x1080 over VGA using the Advanced MiniDock.

For anyone searching this - I've got the above working fine at 2560x1600 over dual-link DVI from the minidock to a LG 30" display.

makes my 20" external looks small, lol.
