UltraBay Battery, Power Manager 3.48.

#1 Post by Ibrahim » Tue May 10, 2011 9:28 am

Hello to all.

Ibrahim here, posting first time on this amazing forum, where so many people with a common base interact and help each other. I am hoping some of you will give me some guidance too, and make my day.

I bought a used T60 2008 BG4 last year, (my first laptop), and fell in love. Upgraded the RAM to 3GB, the hard drive is now a 500 GB Western Digital Caviar Blue and I'm happily running Windows 7 Ultimate. All systems go, so good so far.

I have a six cell Panasonic battery (made in year 2006), with only 188 cycles on it and fairly good shape. I get around 3 hours or more out of it on maximum power saving mode, and I have configured it to stop charging when it reaches 92%. (Power manager said it increases the life span of the battery, is that true?) :?:

I don't use my DVD drive much, and I was wondering, is it a good idea  to buy a new ThinkPad Battery 42 (Ultrabay Battery III)? I know it'll increase my battery time but by how much? Also, and this is my main question, can I configure this Ultrabay battery as well to stop charging at 92% and start charging at 15-20%, or will it only charge or discharge completely each time? (From Power Manager software). and is it possible to switch between battery source (primary and ultra bay while working?

On a side note, I upgraded the ThinkVantage Power Manager to 3.48, and everything works except the Dynamic Brightness Control under the Global Power Settings Tab. Every time I mark any of them, Power Manger restarts with the default settings for these. What's up with that? :help: :??:

I love my T60, bought it with my very first pay check, upgraded it and I'm proud of it. I am grateful to all those who take time out at this forum to help others, to post their findings, and share their knowledge. :thumbs-UP: Thank you for taking the time to read this. Hopefully, I can get some answers to my queries. Peace. :)
