What's the fru number on my motherboard?

#1 Post by lakersgo » Sun Mar 27, 2005 4:27 am

Thinkpad 2722-6YU
I need to know the fru number on the motherboard. IBM tries to charge $895 for the job, of course I don't have that much cash. I need to know the fru number so I can see how expensive the motherboard is. If it's too expensive I am afraid I might just have to get a dell.

The spec:

Pentium M 1.3ghz
256mb Ram
40gb Hard Drive
15' SXGA+
DVD/CD rewriter ultrabay 2000 drive.

You can always take the laptop apart if you feel brave enough. All of the major components have a barcode sticker with the FRU number printed on them.

Also, look for the service manual on IBM's website. It will list all of the parts for your model and their respective FRU numbers. You might try calling the 800 number and give them your model/serial number and they should be able to tell you which one you have.

Open the door on the bottom of the machine where your DIMMs are. There's a sticker there, usually on the DIMM socket, that shows the FRU for the MB. Sometimes it's under one of the DIMMs.
