T420 2rd party wifi?

#1 Post by gmgfarrand » Thu May 12, 2011 9:06 am

Does Lenovo still blacklist cards?

I have a SR-71 WIFI card that I adore and want to use it in the WWAN slot, but the system doesn't even detect anythings there.

The result is that it's NOT detected by the system.

They whitelist. you can hack the bios to remove it.

I remember that from my T60/P days...
I didn't know if they had a hacked BIOS for the T420...

Perhaps try it with pin 20 taped? Though there's also possibility the second slot isn't wired with PCIe connection, which most wifi cards require, and most wwan cards do not.

the WWAN slot is most certainly wired for more than USB. mSATA at the very least requires the speed of a PCI-E bus.
