zif adapter wont let x41 tablet turn on

and a hard drive that was listed as compatible on the list. I hooked it all up and plugged it in. But now the laptop wont turn on. If I remove the drive and leave it driveless or with the original (dying) hard drive the x41 will turn on. But leaving the adapter and hard drive in and it will not power up at all. any advice? anything I am over looking? Is the x41 tablet different that the x41?

I would just start with a simple check list.

- Is the ZIF cable properly attached in the drive?
- Is the ZIF Adapter properly attached in the X41? Did you removed the bezel to do that?

i cant remove the bezel since it is a tablet and so the whole things is attatched as one peice.

zif drive is properly attached.

thinkpad will start with no hard drive or the original hard drive but not with the zif drive. will not power on and will not show that it is charging the battery.

You can take it apart, no problem.

Try starting it with just the ZIF adapter and no HD.
If it now starts, the HD is a goner.
If not, the ZIF adapter is to blame.
