T61p WWAN Upgrade problem - verizon

#1 Post by ethernext » Thu May 19, 2011 6:37 pm

Hi All,

I just upgraded my T61p (6457-5ku) with WWAN antenna's and a sierra wireless MC5725 (FRU: 42T0929). I installed the drivers from the lenovo site and installed vz access manager from verizon without problems and the card is recognized just fine. to test it, I decided to sign up for a week of access using VZAM and that worked without any problems. the modem connected without issue and has great signal where I live.

The problem I am having though is after I signed up via VZAM, I am trying to 'authorize' the card in VZAM and it keeps failing with the error "programming failed". I also noticed that if I try to go through the 'get access' routine in VZAM again, it fails the initial 'updating card' part. although I did not sign up a second time, the connection does work if I connect to sign up for access. has anyone encountered this before?

my T61p is running win7 home premium 64bit and has a modded bios to support an AGN wireless card. Also, the fn-f5 on-screen display correctly see's the wwan card and can power it on/off as normal.

Any ideas?

TIA,

Bill
