4X DVD burner ??
4X DVD burner ??
While configuring a T43 today, I saw this option on the Educational site:
"ThinkPad Multi-Burner 4X Max DVD Recordable Ultrabay Slim Drive [add $64.60]"
Is this truly a DVD burner that burns at 4X ???
Just wondering.
If so, does anyone know the part number for it ???

アイビーエム、シンクパッド T30 w/modified NEC 6500 DVD Burner, TP600E, Japanese TP535E & Japanese TP560. RIP T380D
The IBM salesperson I spoke to really had no idea today.
He told me that it was 4X read (same as another person in the thread you quoted).
I asked for the part number, and he looked for it forever, then finally gave me a part number to a regular old DVD/CD-RW drive, not a DVD burner at all.
So...don't know!
My guess is that it is coming available, may or may not actually be in stock now, and they are not aware of it.

I was also thinking it was 4X read and not 4X write, but nothing's clear if it's even a new drive or not. To be honest with you, with the 9.5mm drive you're really best buying an external burner for now. The two drives mentioned in the other thread aren't worth a Sh$%. You can try it can't you and if you're not satisfied, send it back within a specified period of time? Maybe this is a question you can ask next time you call IBM. If you decide to do this, many of us here would like to know what you find out.
