Help creating Factory Recovery Disk

#1 Post by Mentadentt » Fri May 20, 2011 4:25 am

Hello everyone, I recently bought an E420 and i am trying to create a factory recovery disk for my laptop. I just can't seem to get it right. This is what i have tried

> Lenovo thinkvantage Tools

> Factory Recovery Disk

> Both Boot Media and Data Media are checked

> I select the destination, which for me is a 8GB flash drive

Once the process is done I have tried testing the flash drive out by restarting my laptop, double tapping enter button, and selecting my Flash drive to boot but nothing happens.

strange thing is only about 1.5GB space has been used on my flash drive. I've tried the lenovo thinkvantage tool for recovery disk more than once with no success.

Im going to need a Factory recovery disk soon because I have a newly purchased SSD coming in the mail XP

Thank you

AFAIK....TVT tools needs to WRITE to a BOOTABLE DEVICE first eg - dvd or CD
FIRST;
(than after you HAVE CREATED - you could "copy" to a USB device)

I have the newer E220s and have to create a RD for that , and will try what you did soon - am curious as to what happens and if it works - However I prefer to use DVDs - simply its easy to store away with less chance of 'disc corruptions" during storage etc etc
Work: None - Retired ! Yipee!! ~~Older/Hm use:Asus Zenbook i7FHD~~ w701ds CTO;W520cto;T61P-IPSmodels; T43P,...&700Tstill going strong!! DEC Alpha Series OS: Win7x64; OSX; SuSe Linux; RedHat~~
