Can someone help me configure a laptop on IBM website?

#1 Post by vageetasjn » Mon Mar 28, 2005 4:07 pm

Despite producing the best quality laptops in the world, IBM's website is surprisingly frustrating to use effectively. I can't even manage to configure a laptop the way I want it. If someone could configure or help me configure a T42 with these specs and tell me the quoted price, I would appreciate it.

>= (greater than or equal to) 1.8GHz Pentium M
FireGL 128MB
14.1” SXGA
>= 512MB RAM
7200RPM HD (any size)
cdrw/dvd-rom

Thanks

edit: if the FireGL isn't avaliable with a 14" screen, then it can be substituted with a 9600.

Why can't I buy it from IBM's site? I don't know what thinkpads.com is o_0

Why should I trust them? Do they offer the same warranty, etc as IBM?

Thinkpads.com is the forum you are on, he will not be required to charge sales tax unless you are in florida, making him cheaper then even ibm small business and edu discount prices. Many people on this forum have bought machines from him and all are very happy. Before you buy from ibm see what he has to offer, but if you must deal with ibm, call them and ask for that model i listed above....

Thinkpads.com is the site that is posting this forum. Just look at the Address window in your browser...!

You can trust it because just because everyone here is a customer of Bill at Thinkpads.com. We wouldn't be here if we didn't support Bill.

Yeah, buy it from Bill. I bought the exact same model (gvu) and i'm totally satisfied will bill's service. I "smuggled" it in Canada and saved the taxes and shipping (~500$CAN).

I would recommend to buy from Bill (screen name "morrow") as well.
Many members bought from him and they are all happy.

Send him a PM and see what he can offer you.

1) Because he is an authorized IBM reseller and an all-around nice guy who will give you good service.

2) Of course. The original warranty on a new ThinkPad has nothing to do with who you buy it from.
