X31 suspend/standby problems

#1 Post by Txiasaeia » Mon Mar 28, 2005 4:28 pm

I've been using my X31 for about a year without any problems, but just today I'm having serious problems with putting the X31 on standby/shutdown on battery power. Sometimes it will work and come out of it okay, but most of the time it either hangs or, once I try to bring everything back up, it just shuts off. Haven't updated anything for a while b/c everything's been rock stable up to today. What's going on? Using XP SP1a.

Now it crashes thirty seconds after the desktop loads up on battery power. Did the same thing on AC power with battery in. Took battery out and it seems to be okay, but I still had problems getting it to start up at all - I press the power on button & the battery and power on LCD flash on, and the HD starts to power up, but nothing happens. Does this mean just my battery's dead, or is the whole thing toast? Anybody?

If you still have warranty take out the HD and send it off to IBM.

It's the only way to be sure.

Well, called tech support, they couldn't fix it, so I took it in to their depot to get it fixed. Of course it has problems the *month* that I need it! Oh well. Hopefully it will just be the battery.

UPDATE 2: wasn't the battery, was the main board. Frustrating.
